During a creative residency in summer 2022, Maxence Mathieu (b. 1992, Charleroi) developed an installation titled There are fewer things between heaven and hell than any of us can imagine, presented during the Ateliers RAVI open house the same year.
In continuity with this project, an artist’s book (composed of two publications) is published by Éditions Hématomes (Liège). The fictional part is written by the author Amélie Lucas-Gary, while the monograph is authored by Pierre Henrion, art historian.
This editorial project is inseparable from the work: it constitutes an integral part of it, both physical and conceptual. It originated from two desires: to speculate on new possibilities and nourish our collective imagination.

This work consists of the two books, housed in a slipcase.
