To enter Momar Seck’s work is to follow a river. A river where a rare, intimate and manifest ‘I’ opens a path into the heart of a world: a vibrant ecosystem, a practice that reveals itself as much as it is crafted. This ‘I’ places the reader at the very heart of the creative process, in the warmth of the studio, where the artist weaves, welds, glues, knots and braids – where everything takes shape, meaning and direction.

Throughout this embodied narrative, Momar Seck tells his story and speaks of himself. His voice, gentle and precise, seems to whisper from the very heart of his studios: he unveils his techniques, his relationship with materials, and their symbolic and political potential. He reveals how each creation becomes a journey, a fusion, a creolisation; how art can still fight against reification and open up spaces for emancipation.

This monograph offers access to a way of thinking that is in motion, honest and deeply human. A way of thinking that creates, connects and humanises. A way of thinking that acts upon the world. A journey to the heart of a vital and vitalistic body of work, guided by the artist’s own words.
