During a creative residency in the summer of 2022, Maxence Mathieu (1992, Charleroi) developed an installation entitled Il y a moins de choses entre les cieux et les enfers qu’aucun d’entre nous ne peut l’imaginer (There are fewer things between heaven and hell than any of us can imagine), which was presented during the Ateliers RAVI open house that same year. As a continuation of this project, an artist’s book (comprising two publications) has been published by Éditions Hématomes (Liège). The fictional part was written by the writer Amélie Lucas-Gary, while the monograph was penned by the art historian Pierre Henrion. This editorial project is inseparable from the work: it is an integral part of it, both physically and conceptually. It was born out of two desires: to speculate on new possibilities and to feed our collective imagination. This work consists of two books, grouped together in a box set.
